Li Xiaofeng uses both antique and custom painted ceramics to create iconic dresses, uniforms and the occasional famous polo shirt that are like armor plating in appearance yet extremely fragile. The process includes breaking larger porcelain pieces into shards that are then connected by wires woven through finely drilled holes. Giving new meaning to the term “Made in China”, I can’t help but admire Li Xiaofeng’s vision and passion.
Some of these pieces of attire are actually wearable and are surely not the most comfortable (there will be NO jumping jacks!), but I can think of far worse things to suffer in the name of art.
