The Elder Statesman is the brainchild of Greg Chait, the 2012 winner of the prestigious CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Award. Chait understands that a Luxury brand begins with luxurious fibers, and his fiber of choice is cashmere. I like a man who takes his fibers seriously!
The line started in 2007 in Los Angeles, and the West Coast beach influence is obvious with water color palettes, Baja sweaters and palm trees. For his New York Fashion Week F/W 2013 presentation, we saw the line evolve yet remain playful, including cashmere suits for men and women next to pink checkered coveralls. Of course, there were also the knit staples of over-sized beanies and colorful cardigans that looked insanely comfortable and sumptuous.
